DANETTE TAKES HER CRAFTSMAN HOME TO THE NEXT LEVEL.
Like the home owner, quality and attention to detail purvey through out this remodel. Danette took special care using and restoring reclaimed pine on the trim and searched for right hardware right down to new push button light fixtures. We took a little leeway updating the cabinetry and appliances. When I first saw the space a Island was an immediate must do, and given the appliances wished for, the appliance wall worked out beautifully.
Danette and I had some fun on this project right on up to going in the attic and pulling out some antique treasures of her Grandmothers. With a little elbow grease and furniture oil we resurrected numerous items , and the small student desk shown worked perfectly as a side table for the additional bar stools.
The sunroom, (perhaps my favorite for the charm) needed extra storage; the window seating with drawer storage seemed a natural add to make the space functional The seating allows full enjoyment of the gardens which are as lovely as the interior. The bonus: a place to set up the notorious “kid table” during family gatherings, in a special and beautiful space. The light fixture on the ceiling was selected for a bit of whimsy and in keeping with the name of the room.
The challenge for color in this room was to accent the stained glass and even it out, and keep it subtle and happy at the same time. The area rug I purchased also inspired tying in the tones in the kitchen and added some contemporary flair. This was one of my favorite projects to date.
